COURSING ABILITY

The AKC Canine Partners program has the second and third mixed-breed dogs to earn the Coursing Ability Advanced (CAA) titles for qualifying 10 times!

They are Woodacre's Little Big Man CAA ("Rusty") and Woodacre's Polka Dot CAA ("Dot"), both owned by Jacqueline Phillips of San Leandro, CA. They finished their titles on Oct. 29 at a Coursing Ability Test hosted by the Basenji Club of Northern California in Hollister, CA.  Rusty was adopted in July 2010 from a shelter in Southern Oregon. "Rusty loves Lure Coursing and started running full courses almost immediately after he was adopted," Phillips said. "He also competes in all-breed straight racing and has completed two titles. Rusty has started beginning obedience classes and finds the stays to be the most difficult, but loves the recalls," she said.  Dot was adopted in October 2008 from a shelter in Weaverville, CA. She had been surrendered to the shelter with her seven 1-week old puppies. She was estimated to be around 3 years old, which would make her around 6 years now. "Dot LIVES for Lure Coursing," Phillips said. Dot also competes in all-breed straight racing and has completed two titles.
